Summer fading into fall...

Our girl is fast approaching 8 months!! Where has the time gone?

happenings in our world from the last month...at the end of July, Jason started his new job with RSC as a yardman. Basically, he is doing the maintenance of the equipment and any other miscellaneous tasks they need done. He may in the future be able to do deliveries but currently they aren't in need of a full-time driver so he is just picking up skills with the mechanics. He hurt his knee two weeks into working there after losing his footing on a dozer and driving his knee into the stell grating wheel tread. Thank goodness Grandma Janet was able to come over from Springfield and watch Kaylee while I tended to Jason in the ER. This 'ouchie' cost him 6 staples and restricted work duties. It also kept him from working at Lowe's part-time until he was fully released from the doctor. His wound has since healed up and he is back to full duties at both jobs but is to still be very careful with any bending or heavy lifting.

We went into Spfld the first weekend of the fair and we were able to spend time with some high school firends including Theiya Herrin and family, Chris Churchill, and of course Meaghan and her family. It was definitely hot so we were only at the fair for about 2 hours and we didn't even go until 7p when we thought it would be cooler but it wasn't. On the way home, we were able to meet up with another high school friend, Kelly Turner, who is expecting in December. We can't wait to meet her little angel.

Jason's parents came to visit the last weekend of August which was ncie since it was around their birthdays. They brought us a beautiful cedar chest that was handmade by Jason's Great Uncle who lives in North Carolina. It is so nice and we are so lucky that he thought of us and took the time to make this incredible piece of furniture!! Otherwise, it was a really good weekend. We did some shopping in Spfld and hung out at the house.

As I write this, we are on our way back from Omaha NE. We left early (330a) Friday morning to visit my brother and his family who welcomed Owen Dustin into the family in late July. He is just so precious and made it really hard to leave. He will probably be so much bigger the next time we get to see him so thank goodness for Skype! While we were there, we went to the Omaha Zoo and all really enjoyed ourselves. To Nick and Misty: ....beans....beans...and dig, dig, dig, and roar, and roar! HAHA (inside joke)

Well, not much coming in the next month. Our 2 year wedding anniversary is right around the corner! Unbelievable! What a wonderful 2 years it's been too. I am beginning training for a 15k that is going to be in Chicago on November 6. My good friend, Yvonne, has jumped on the bandwagon and will be motivating me through it :) Other than that, nothing big on the horizon. We will keep you posted on any new happenings. Here are a few pictures since the last post. Miss and love you all!

What a Beautiful Family

What a fun and exhausting month we have had. We decided to get Kaylee's ears pierced on July 9 - just shy of 6 months old. A good friend from college was in town with her little boy and we were out shopping. It's something that I hadn't wanted to do but it just seemed like the perfect time to do it since mom and dad could be there for it. I was so glad to get to see Jerri and her handsome baby boy Jobe. Her mom even brought along all of her photo equipment and was able to capture some really good shots. As soon as I get those, I will post some. Anyway, here are some close-ups on her new ears.

Then, Kaylee and I went to Peoria for Jacee's (my cousin's little girl who shares my birthday with me) 1st birthday party. We got to see family and that is always nice. I wish I had some cute pictures to share but I didn't get one of everyone smiling together. Jacee enjoyed her first cake and definitely 'dug' in.

On Sunday (11th), my really good friend from college, Joanna, was in the area visiting her family and made the trip over to our house for a visit. Kaylee loved playing with her necklace and was really good for us that night with no typical meltdowns so we were able to visit. She has a new man in her life and seems to be really excited about how it is going. It's so nice to see your friends happy. Then for Jason's birthday (14th), we went and got Kaylee's 6 month pictures taken and then took her to the doctor for her 6 month shots. She is a tough cookie these days and barely lets out a cry. Thank goodness b/c I though it was going to be bad. Then we packed up the car and headed to Indianapolis for a long weekend.

We stayed with our friend Casee, a girl I worked with at Lilly. Charlie and Lucy made themselves at home there as did we and are thankful to Casee for opening up her home to us. Kaylee spent the first night away from us on July 16 and stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Williamson. Jason and I got a night out and went to The Last Rodeo concert (Brooks and Dunn) with Tammy and Taggert and Casee. Good times!!

While we were in Indy, we made a point to drive and see Jason's Grandma (Kaylee's Great Grandma). She wants Kaylee to call her GG and that works for us. We got some really good pictures .. here is just one of them.

As usual, we take pictures of Kaylee on each month birthday so we can watch her grow her first year. We happened to be in Indy this month for her 6 month pictures so we didn't have the typical stuffed animals for her to pose with....didn't matter b/c she was being such a doll! We captured some really great pictures of her. Here is just two of them:

Grandma Janet came over from Spfld today and played with Kaylee. Kaylee is becoming so much more interactive with others and I love it. I am a little worried that her separation anxiety might already be starting but since I don't like being away from her either, I guess it's mutual. Overall, this was a busy month but a fun one. In August, I think we will go to the State Fair but other than that we really don't have any plans.
On other note - My brother and his wife welcomed their first baby on Wednesday July 21 - after a long labor...Welcome to the world Owen Dustin Mitchell. Auntie Andrea loves you :) We will probably be over to Omaha to see them around Labor Day.

June has come and gone...now for my Birthday month!!

The whole month of June, I kept thinking - I need to update the blog. But now its July and I have finally found a few quiet minutes to do it. Thank goodness!

Jason and I threw Nick and Misty a baby shower for their little boy due to arrive July 29th. The came over for Memorial Day weekend and it was fun but of course, they were here and gone before we knew it. Distance is getting harder with little ones in the picture. Here is a picture of Nick and Kaylee hanging out.

Not much happened in the month of June. The first weekend my cousin from Montana was in Spfld visiting. It was nice to see him and catch up. Then came Jason's first Father's Day. Unfortunately, he had to work that day but was able to get off early so that Kaylee and I could take him out to dinner. The end of the month was Grandma Janet's birthday. She came out to Decatur to hang out with us for the day.

Before we knew it, it was the 4th of July weekend and boy was it busy. On Saturday (3rd), we went into Spfld to my Aunt's house. Her neighborhood always has a fireworks show and some skydivers plus my Uncle from Texas was visiting. We left for a few hours to visit some old high school friends...one of which was swinging through as he and his wife were moving from North Carolina to Idaho - yes, he is in the Military. He is co-pilot on fighter jets and will be deployed to Afghanistan in 4 months. Not real thrilled about that but glad we were able to see him while he was home. On Sunday (4th), we went to Warrensburg to hang out with the Canum family. I can't wait for Kaylee to get older and be able to play with all of the kids in that family. They definitely keep you busy but are so fun and really cute kids!

Today, Kaylee and I just hung out and played. It was a nice relaxing day at home in the AC. Here are a couple of her first 4th of July pics:

The next two weeks are going to be busy. My birthday is Thursday and I hope to spend the day scrapbooking and getting caught up. Then Friday, a college friend and her little one (who was born just 3 days before Kaylee) are coming into town and we are going to go to the zoo. Then on Saturday, I am hoping that Kaylee and I can go up to Peoria to celebrate Jacee's 1st birthday. Next week will be busy too - on Wednesday (Jason's birthday) we are getting Kaylee's 6 month pictures and she has a doctor's appt for her 6 month shots. Then we are off to Indianapolis to see Jason's family and some friends. We haven't been over there since my shower in November and we are getting really excited to go back. Hopefully, soon after that, my little nephew will arrive and end the month of July on a good note. Until then...have a safe and wonderful month!

4 month's old

These are some of her 3 month pictures from Uphoff Photography

Happenings in the last two weeks....

Last weekend Jason and I went into Springfield to get Miss Kaylee a high chair so that we could start cereal on Monday. We ended up getting it at a Target right here in Decatur - go figure! Anyway, she hasn't decided what to think of the cereal just yet and so far, the next day it usually comes back up either in the morning or afternoon. She isn't into the whole spoon thing either - she'd rather I dip her pacifier in the cereal than take it from a spoon.

Anyway, last week when we were in Spfld, we stopped by Meaghans for her candle party and also at Grandma Janet's. It was a fun day but very exhausting for Jason and I both.

On Wednesday, Kaylee had her 4 month check-up. Daddy was off work so he got to take her. She got lots of shots and didn't cry as bad as the first time. She weighed only 12 lbs and 11 oz (putting her in the 25th percentile for breastfed babies) - so a little small and Dr. recommended that we try offering her more from the bottle when she is at daycare to see if she can gain a little more. She was 24 inches long and otherwise a health little thing.

Happy Mother's Day!

Wow - the last post was just 4 days before my entire life changed. Here it is Mother's Day and my little girl is about to be 4 months old!! So, I am going to attempt to update this thing weekly from here on out (thanks to a tip from a mommy of twins - if she can do it, I can, right??) otherwise she will be all grown up before I get back to keeping everyone updated on our happenings.
Miss Kaylee Katherine Ann Williamson arrived on January 17 at 1153am via c-section after about 12 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing. She weighed 8 lbs and 3 oz. and was 21 inches long. I remember waking up in recovery with no name for her and they tried to give me pictures of her to help until I could be released to my room. Jason and I went to the hospital about 98% sure it was going to be Abigail Nichole but when I met her -- she just wasn't what I had been picturing for 9 months (bald with my skin tone). So, instead dad and I decided to name her after her three grandmas (Janet Kaye, Mary Katherine, and Margaret Ann) and it was perfect!!

Here is her one month picture. It is so amazing how quickly they change in such a short amount of time. I now look back and remember how much she slept. I definitely took advantage of the naps:
She quickly turned 2 months and then 3 months:

2 months
3 months

And now next week on the 17th, she will be 4 months! It's crazy how fast life passes us by. I now some days have felt like weeks and some weeks seemed like only a few days - it's all a blur really but I know one thing for sure -- she has the best daddy in the world! He has been an incredible support and is just a natural. I am a lucky mom! I definitely didn't need days like today where all Mother's are celebrated to know just how lucky I am. I can't wait to see how much she changes in her first year but I am excited and just love her so much.
Again, I hope to update this weekly but if not, definitely more than every 4 months!! Thanks for all those who check in on us. Until next week....

T minus 8 days

Here's a quick update on our status as soon-to-be parents:

Went to the doctor today and measured at 43 weeks...so 4 weeks ahead. I hadn't been feeling much movement if at all lately so doctor wanted a biophysical profile done on baby to make sure all is well. She said I am still dilated at only 1 cm but that my cervix has begun thinning itself out and is 50% effaced. She said if stripping the membranes doesn't work this time, that she will see my back next Wednesday. She won't schedule an induction unless it is a day she is on call - which is next Thursday so if we have no baby by then, we will get to meet our angel on 01.21.10 at the very latest! That makes for 8 days and counting!!

We then went and had our ultrasound and she looked perfect! The poor thing is sooo squished in there that she has her foot in her mouth!! Nothing like sucking on your toes! The technician said that her head measured normal size and that the fluid looks good. I asked if she could tell if she had pottied in there yet - and she no, there was no indication that she had pooped yet! As for a weight measurement, they estimated her at 8 lbs. 2 oz. She said that this measurement is usually accurate within +/- 1 lb but what she was seeing, it was more like an 8 to 9 lb baby. She said that I definitely won't be having a 6 or 7 lb baby...which we all already knew! She tried to reconfirm the sex but her butt was all squished up into my ribs so we couldn't really do that. She said that her belly was measuring pretty big but not too worry because that can squish during delivery. Like I said, she looked perfect! and dad is really getting excited now!

That's it for now. Hopefully, we will get this process started on our own before next Thursday that way there is less chance of having to have a c-section...but in the end, as long as she is healthy, I don't care how she arrives! If I am feeling up to it tomorrow, I will scan our ultrasound pics and post on here for you all to get a sneek peek! For now, I am resigned to my bed to breathe through these cramps/contractions that she has started again.
